Snowpack
We found around 2 inches of snow on north and northeast-facing slopes near treeline. Although we didn't travel in the alpine, visual inspection of drifted areas appear between 6 and 10 inches deep. Regardless of depth, the snow on the ground is weak and faceting. Slopes that face east through south to west are 100 percent bare ground at all elevations. Stability in the La Plata Mountains is likely to increase slower with the next storm than areas further north due to shallow, variable snow cover.
