Northerly slopes below treeline have about a foot of snow. Anything shady and steep has faceted but the "slab" is still one-finger-minus on the hardness scale. There is a crust capping the basal facets at about 4 inches from the ground.---Sunny slopes are mostly melted except for very high southeast-facing slopes and protected gullies.
