Snowpack

Total depth of snow was deeper than we were expecting at 165cm. Snow was fist density from top (165 cm) to 135 cm from ground. Four finger density to 120 cm where an ice crust (early Jan?) knife with 1.5 cm of facets to 2 cm long was observed. Snow below crust was one finger to 90 cm above ground and pencil to ground. We completed 1 compression test which failed on cutting (with a ski so probably put additional force compared to a saw) with sudden planar on the facet layer. Skiing was good from 875 m to about 500 m then it was breakable crust and tree bombs below.
