Fun day up Jutland. Snow was not good for skiing. Bullet hard up the Jutland ridge. And punch crust down the NE ramps to Circlet. Observed sign of natural slab debris directly above circlet on a 45+ degree slope that looked a couple days old. No other natural signs. Evaluated snow at 1330m on a 30 degree NE slope. Dug a 1.2 m pit. 1 finger Sun crust down to 3cm Hand hard Cold unconsolisated snow to 15cm 1 finger slab to 35cm Hand hard slush to 55cm (Slushy sort of facets, not a lot of friction in shear but do bond when compressed) 4 finger consolidated snow to 60 1 finger sun crust to 61 Consolidated to 120 CT 20M PC @ 35cm CT 10H PC @60cm Extended column test had similar results to CT and did not reveal significant propagation energy of slab-slush interface. Finally ski cut and jumped ontop of the pit and snowpack layers were very resistant to failing. Concluded bodyweight was not likely to break the slab or cause a failure of weak slush layer underneath. So, in that area low likelihood but medium consequences. We chose careful route selection on the uptrack and ski'd our skin track. I will be checking for this buried slab ontop of slushy facets on my future outings.
