Weather

Temperatures in the low 30's, light winds, and ample sunshine. Very nice day.

Snowpack

The new snow from Saturday is staying dry on shady slopes at all elevations but warming on sunny slopes. The dry snow at upper elevations is sitting on a very firm surface created by strong winds from the pervious week. Sunny slopes are warming with the afternoon sun and we can expect a crust to form. No cracking or collapsing.

Avalanche

I observed a handful of long running loose avalanches and a few small slabs from the most recent snow. Likely occurred 1/8 or 1/9. The new snow is running on the firm surface created by last weeks wind and not stepping down.
