Went out for a dawn patrol mission up at Aussie couloir. We were happily greeted with about 10-15 cm of new snow from the night before and quickly made our way up to Motel 66. As we got onto anniversary, we dug a NW facing pit and observed a CT failure at 25, 40cm down. We then reached the col around sunrise and transitioned to the base of Aussie to start up the booter. Booting was deep but stable and we topped out at around 9 and transitioned quickly to avoid any sun effect. We triggered a sz 1-1.5 on the way down after a couple of precautionary ski cuts that ran the width of the couloir and about 30cm deep. This avalanche was near the top and was suspected to be a wind slab. Sluffing was intense on the top third of the couloir, but became far more manageable the rest of the way down. We then enjoyed glorious sunny turns down on the glacier and were back at the truck by 12. Beautiful day
