Hand sheer at 1500m showed results on the surface hoar layer at about 20cm. Pit at 1600m on east aspect, which showed snowpack is right side up until the December facet layer. Results were CT21 on the surface hoar layer, 20cm down. ECT in second pit at 1650m, outside of sheltered terrain showed no results. We suspect this location was more effected by winds and therefore layers not as reactive. Temp was -5 at 1600m and light winds. We skied mellow sheltered slopes before moving into steeper alpine slopes as we gained more confidence in the snowpack.
