Weather

I measured 19" of new snow (1.3" of Snow Water Equivalent) from the last 48 hours. Intermittent sun and snow with light winds lasted throughout the day.

Snowpack

Below treeline terrain had 40-45 cm of new snow. On south and west-facing slopes, there is a thin,wafer-like crust 10 cm below the surface capping yesterday's new snow. All of this sits over a crust with dust on top of it. Near treeline terrain had 45-50 cm of new snow. I dug at 11,600' on an east-facing slope. The height of snow was 185 cm. In an extended column test I had an ECTN 22 and 24 on the top of a crust that formed after 03/06 storm. In compression tests I had a CT 19 on this same layer. Below these layers the storm snow from February and March sits over four-finger hard facets with some well defined crusts.
