We toured above green shack, finishing the day with a run into W Nadahini glacier. On N and E aspects between 1000 and 1500m surface conditions were a 5-10cm layer of fast facets topped with 2-3mm surface hoar which persisted well into the alpine. Below the surface we found 4f>1f snow with a few remnant unreactive layers in the top 100cm. The early December rain crust is sitting 90-100cm below the surface and was unreactive in tests. The snowpack surprise of the day was along a cross scoured S alpine face and ridge where the snowpack was only 50cm deep and the December rain crust was just above ground and underlaid by well developed 3mm depth hoar. Above the crust was 45cm of 4F facets. We saw evidence of S wind a limited natural avalanche cycle from earlier in the week on steep N faces and some cross loaded terrain
