We traveled to the Renshaw Cabin area today to install a new weather station. We were happy to say goodbye to the -27C temperature we observed the previous night as we began our ride at a balmy -19C. We noticed warming throughout the day with winds and flurries picking up in the afternoon. We found the snowpack at treeline to be pretty thin. It was 75 cm deep at the weather station site, with facets all the way down to a basal crust. Riding in the facets is both fun and tricky. Savvy sledders will manage to get some deep turns while avoiding the many buried hazards just below the surface.
