Snowpack

Kicked off a slab today on the southside of fremont pass. "question mark" aka "avy bowl" east facing avy path. Slide broke at the top (just above tl 12,200) where the cornice should be. 250' wide. at longest point ran 250'. Crown averaged 2' but got to around 3'. no one caught. saw an old 20'x30'x2' slide it looks like a skinner kicked off nearby. got some big whumphs and a 60' shoot crack on the approach. guessing the slide ran on a combination of depth hoar grass and old snow. The slab was bullet proof windslab before it broke. lots of small windslabs in lee areas. Below tl snow is 8" of powder on top of 4" of DH.
