Snowpack

While touring up copper creek to copper lake I observed many naturals. The big ones being the entire east face of Gothic Mountain had slid and ran a little ways past the choke, but that was kinda expected. Another one on Gothic Mountain occurred in it's north cirque. There is a sub peak in the north facing side of the cirque. The entire east facing side of that slid, fracture line was around 1,500 feet and ran to the bottom of the upper cirque, 800 feet or so. The significant thing about this slide is that as the east face of that sub peak slid it propagated to the south side of the cirque and ran another 900 feet. Pretty amazing to see it change aspects like that. Got a good look into sylvanite basin and there was numerous small soft slab release on almost all aspects. New snow in that area was 15in. While on tour there was many trap door moments and shooting cracks, some reaching as far as a couple hundred feet. Did experience on large collapse. It was snowing off and on through day and was cold. My thermometer was reading -1F. Strong winds at ridge tops to mild winds in the valley bottoms with an occasional strong gust.
