Surprising strong winds with extreme gusts from the N, NE this morning through early afternoon. These winds were moving snow and creating touchy 1F hard windslabs in our westerly and more exposed terrain near treeline 6-18" thick. Reactive to ski cuts, but some of the thicker slabs were popping above the skier which was a bit unnerving, and could be problematic in high consequence terrain. All the slabs were relatively localized, mostly due to the discontinuous terrain features we deal with
