Snowpack

snowpack in open areas was sparce with areas of ground showing. In the shaded areas in the trees the pack was less than 75cm. The surface was covered with surface hoar sometimes as large as 4cm. The pack consisted of the surface layer, the new snow layer, a hard inhibiting layer about 6cm and a depth hoar layer of about 20cm to the ground. Any area over about 35 degrees resulted in multiple cracks radiating from the ski track. These cracks opened up about 5cm. The movement was on the hard layer beneath the new snow.
