Weather
Winter returns! Fresh snow around 5 inches, snowing lightly on and off throughout the day with a heavy burst of an inch an hour from 6 to 8 am. Total accumulation today around 3 inches. Very windy; hard to even poke your head above treeline after noon.
Snowpack
Lots of blowing snow. Around 5 to 8 inches of new snow near treeline in last 30 hours. Westerly wind building fresh wind slabs during the day. The new storm snow is bonding well to the old crusts since the storm came in warm, but wind slabs 1-2 ft thick will be a concern on easterly aspects tomorrow. The rest of the snowpack is crust facet combos on all but north aspects in the upper snowpack, a firm mid pack slab, and 40cm of weak depth hoar at the bottom.
