Snowpack

Average snow depth was in the 60-80cm range. At a pit location near 9500' on a north aspect and 18 degree slope, we had a 81 cm deep snowpack with the top 7 cms being a mix of surface hoar, near-surface facets, and fresh precip particles and decomposing grains. Below that 7 cm, was a very defined several cm thick band of buried surface hoar. These buried grains were in the 2-2.5 cm weight class. Here the 1F slab was 48 cm thick, on top of 26 cm of 4F facets.
