Weather

Overcast and snowing for periods during the day. Snowed ~S2 from 10 AM to noon and then from 3 PM to 5 PM about 4" accumulation. Some heavier periods of snow during the afternoon squall. We stayed mostly below treeline and winds were calm. During brief periods of broken clouds in the afternoon we didn't see any wind transport near and above treeline.

Snowpack

The new snow from today did little to decrease stability in the areas we traveled. No instabilities observed. Minor sluffing on a steeper 40 degree slope. The storm snow from Jan. 16th has settled to about 8" but is still unconsolidated and not a cohesive slab. The snowpack below treeline is about 100-140cms. Quick hand-pits did not show any clean fracture planes in mid to upper snowpack. Pole probing still indicated weakest snow at the ground in BTL areas.
