Calm winds with overcast skies and generally balmy temps through out the day. Highs at 11,700ft hovering around 33-34 degreesF. South aspects below treeline already softening at 10:00am.
Snowpack
Mt. Trelease, NE aspect, 11,600ft. Height of snow pack 130cm. Performed two compression tests , both with easy results. On the first test I had a sudden collapse 40cm down that failed on .5mm facets, with only 6 taps from the wrist. I then continued with the taps and within 2 extra taps I had a complete failure of the column down to the ground. This failed on large angular basil facets. My next compression test failed easy as well with a mere 10 taps from the wrist. This time the whole 130cm column failed at the ground. One again failing on large angular basil facets.
