Weather

Mostly cloudy, winds were in and out all day and 20-25 mph at and above treeline elevations. Very cold temps over the day.

Snowpack

Snow surface was composed primarily of stellar and decomposing crystals. Riding it felt heavier than than normal for Colorado. Over the course of the day we saw several cracks that propagated 20-30' from ski tips and a lot more smaller cracking just as we skinned. We also heard a decent bit of whumping. At one point I was riding down a slope that was approximately 25 degrees in pitch. Everything spiderwebbed in front of me but nothing moved because it was not quite steep enough. Riding conditions were quite nice but things were noisy and seemed pretty touchy. We stuck to low angle slopes for the day.
