Significant avalanche activity witnessed off Crowfoot Mountain. Cornice failures as well as loose snow avalanches to size 2.5. 1/2 dozen or more witnesses during our outing 4-5 hours.
Weather
Light gusting winds to tree line, alpine appeared to have stronger winds.
Snowpack
ECTNR. We dug a put at 2130 M on a North aspect slope of 28 degrees. 235cm depth, consolidated snow pack with few issues noted. -2.1 degrees at 10cm depth, -9.7 at 60 cm depth. The top 25 cms were fist hardness, followed by 30 cms of 4 finger and then 1 finger hardness the next 80 or so cms.
Avalanche
Multiple avalanches were seen dropping off Crowfoot Peak. Several were large sized (to 2.5). Cornice failure witnessed.
