Location
Little Crowfoot peak and Ferris Glacier

We skied up to Little Crowfoot peak yesterday. -13 in the parking lot and a high of 2 in the shade on the Ferris glacier. It felt like the inversion bottom was at about 2150m. Clear skies and a light southerly wind made for quite pleasant conditions.

The polar aspects seem to taking the warmer temps well with dry faceted snow found in sheltered areas. Different story on solar aspects with moist surfaces and sun crusts where they had come back into the shade. We probed between 90 - 140cms on the Ferris glacier with the average being about 100cms and there were only a few visible sags and no open crevasses.

It was surprising to see a lack of cornice activity given the recent weather and the only signs of avalanche activity were a few small loose wets.

A great day out for early December!
