High winds out of the W at and above TL. Cold all morning.
Snowpack
Snow depth within the trees varied from aprox 70 to 150 cm. boot pen was 30 cm in all locations below TL. Above TL area was very wind scoured and thin. Above TL snow depth varied. Wind loading was observed on lee and cross loaded slopes. we found a hard wind slab aprox. 10 - 20 cm, over large 6mm DH. depths in this area were shallow at aprox 30 to 50cm. Below TL snow profile found new snow and decomposed new snow on top hard slab that varied from 4F- to P-. This layer was 60 cm thick and was located between 90 and 30 cm abv ground. Base of pack had large well developed DH. compression tests = CTN/DTN/ECTX. however shovel sheer pulled the whole slab out on DH base with mod. effort.
