Most of the east facing aspect consisted of a 2ft storm slab on top of a moderately faceted 1ft layer from earlier in the week. A sun crust progressively developed today in the aspen groves, but the pine woods consisted of light soft snow all afternoon. The storm slab is extremely unstable and propagates with little applied pressure. We did not dig a snow pit, but the snow fractured and propagated constantly as we moved through openings in the trees
