Weather

Overcast. Four to six inches of fresh. 30 degrees temperature. Snowing steadily. Occasional wind gusts from the northwest. Aspect northeast, below timberline, approximately 30 trees of slope. Open fingers and faces in the timber. Elevation approx 10,000

Snowpack

Wind whipped powder alternating with windslab beneath 4-6 inches of fresh.

Avalanche

1 Small slab avalanche triggered by skier, passing tree, propagated across bottom of finger but stopped in open snow before reaching opposite tree line. Clearly defined crown approximately 18-20" deep (so approximately 15 inches into old snow) and 25 yards wide. Slab crumbled and slid approximately 30-40 yards.
