Snowpack
We received a new 40-60cm of new snow in the past 2 days. This fell on top of 15-20 of colder snow from earlier this week. We were on W-SW-S facing slopes at 11,000 ft which had a variety of crust layers below the new snow. Slope angle was 37 degrees. We experience shooting cracks which traveled more than 100 meters away. As well as 2 small collapses.
Avalanche
Remote trigger, Soft Slab, D2 R2. WSW bowl below Highlands Patrol shack. 11,000ft. 50cm deep. We did not go to the crown due to the hang fire. But I suspect it was either a density change or a wet over dry snow facet over crust. We skied the bed surface.
