Weather
Location: Diamond Peak Area, Montgomery Bowl, Cameron Pass, East Facing 10,600 feet (estimated). Time: 3:15 PM. Weather: Strong winds, blowing snow, near blizzard conditions. Cold (10 degrees in parking lot, significantly colder higher.
Snowpack
Same Aspect: New snow on on-top of existing snowpack. Layers were easily felt throughout the hike. Tracks were filled in above tree-line even though many skiers passed us going down from the same area.
Avalanche
We observed the top layer of new snow sliding easily above treeline. This was a few inches of snow. Cracks appeared in front of us on steeper terrain in trees and the top layer easily slid on old snow. No natural avalanches were observed, though we stayed below the more dangerous terrain.
