extensive faceting was observed top to bottom on the mountain and made for noisy and soft turns on the way down. Even though this was at a ski area, I was touring in an area that has not been used much by the ski area yet this year. Consequently, I would expect this faceting to also be present in nearby backcountry areas and to be a future culprit weak layer when buried under tonight's storm. No cracking, collapsing, or whumping was observed on this tour.
