Weather
Warm and breezy. Clouds were building all morning, and a few drops of rain came down on our way back to town. No wind loading was observed in the higher terrain.
Snowpack
Very little snow down low. Below Weller Lake, the road and all the adjacent paths were melted out. The road enters the forest east of Weller Lake, and continues through heavy timber for a few miles. This stretch looks to have continuous coverage with at least 12-16" of well-compacted snow on it. The road may be melted again where it sidehills the south-facing terrain near the Prospect paths and the Independence townsite. Further assessment will have to be done using the access from the east side of the pass.
