Snowpack

Snowpack was around 80 cm deep and characterized by layers of faceted grains sandwiched between thin old hard slabs and crusts. All capped by a 25 cm thick soft slab. Soft slab was reactive to tests PST end 25/100, CT 12 SC Snow surface was a thin (3-5 cm) wind crust. This layer was very reactive (CTVE, SP) and many shooting cracks, up to 3 meters in length, were observed in this layer. Weak layer was buried D/F grains. One collapse about 30 m in diameter was felt and heard by our group.
