Weather

Cloud cover increased throughout the day from FEW to SCT with high cirrus. Very intermittent gusts in the M-S range from the WSW with L to None transport observed at ridge elevation. Otherwise wind was L WSW.

Snowpack

Below 9000' snowpack consisted of the unconsolidated storm snow from the Solstice and Christmas storms generally in the 20-30cm range. Above 9000' older snow was present under the recent storm snow and boot penetration was to the relatively resistant depth hoar / MFcr which, as noted in previous obs, was fairly supportable. Weak layer of facets is present above the depth hoar / MFcr on a NE aspect and the snow above seemed just cohesive enough to act as a soft slab.
