COSAR field report

Compression tests had consistant result CTH (24) showing breaks at ground in the shallow snow pack (100cm). Most relevant obs we noted was the large facetting crystals in the bottom 40cm. Early season crusts had good bonding and no hoar was found at this elevation. Overall still an upside right snow pack. The discussion was made that if we had planned to go skiing we would have chosen the treed slope on the right of the photo or far left and watched for wind affected terrain avoiding anything steep off ridge top.

This Avalanche was not witnessed by our group. As we stopped to look at the Avaluator one member of the group notice the small slab (30m x 30m) in the distance. No more data could be confirm. Sz.2, Lee slope, possibly cross loaded in an area where terrain transitions between two slightly different aspects. (Bowl like feature) hard to see in the pic just below ridge top and appears to be down to the rocks.
