Weather
A warm day with temperatures in the mid thirties. There was no wind and a brief period of snow showers. The clouds went from overcast to broken throughout the day.
Snowpack
The warm air temperature allowed for surface melting of the snow. We dug on the north aspect of Hahn's Peak near treeline, which revealed a deep snowpack of 260cm. The snowpack has good structure with soft snow on top of firm snow. Areas that gain sun exposure have a unsupportable melt-freeze crust. While other places that are wind effected are firm with drifted snow deposits. The persistent weak layers are buried over a meter deep and are difficult to trigger.
Avalanche
No new avalanches observed
