Weather

Intermittent clouds with periods of sunshine. Temperatures mild in town, but the windchill keeps it brisk. Southwest winds are nuking in the alpine. Eagle weather station gusted to 106 mph in the last hour.

Snowpack

Heavy wind-drifting is overloading the snowpack. A string of avalanches have been reported this morning in the San Juan Mountains. Most avalanches look to have failed in the upper snowpack, but a few slopes that have run multiple time this season may have run to the ground. The heaviest loading has stopped, but the quick up-tick in activity is bull-eye data on how sensitive conditions are at the moment near and above treeline.

Avalanche

There has been a spike in Natural avalanche activity this morning.
