Hard crust up to 1100m but soft snow above that elevation. We toured up through the trees to 1300m and found the nice stuff between 1100 and 1300m. Stayed on NE aspect except for one lap that found us on a SE exposure that was NO FUN to ski because of that sun crust. Our pit at 1300m showed 2 hard layers at 55 and 70 cm down. Everything was well bonded and we didn't experience any cracking or whumpfing all day. That nasty crust down low was just plain ugly to ski.
