Weather

Cold morning quickly warming to above freezing temperatures. The trailhead was 21 degrees F at 10:00 AM with Few clouds. Calm winds with occasional Light breezes throughout the day. By 1:30 PM the temperature was 44 degrees F with Broken skies.

Snowpack

The average height of snow (HS) below treeline was between 1-1.5 meters. Small (<1mm) near-surface facets (FCsf) observed on most of the slopes we travelled on. Southerly aspects had moist surface snow and either had prominent Melt-Freeze crusts (MFcr) or were developing MFcr's. Snowpack tests on a west-northwest slope showed mostly stable results (ECTX and PST 53/100 (END)) All signs point towards a lower likelihood of triggering an avalanche.
