Justin Kruse went for an afternoon sled into Core Lodge and found about approximately 45cm of fresh snow and a total snowpack depth of 80cm (HS 80) after the most recent storm cycle. The base of the snowpack contains 30cm-40cm of several highly consolidated melt freeze crusts (see attached photo). One of these ground level (basal layer) crusts reacted to Compression Tests in the Moderate Range. Justin's recomendation is that early season hazards exist in abundance, with lots of trees and stumps in the area! Ride safe and/or wait it out until another storm cycle or two can fill the slopes in just a touch more!
