Surface conditions were generally good with boot-top powder below treeline. This transitioned to a sandwich of wind-pressed layers in the top 40cm (up to 4f plus) from variable winds in open areas at treeline and in the lower alpine. No significant surface instabilities observed in our riding area, although I'm sure we would have found pockets of reactive windslab if we went hunting on steep upper elevation slopes. We did a quick test profile on an east aspect at 2050m looking specifically for the early November crust/facet interface. Height of snow was 175cm. Crust/facet interface was ~100cm below the surface. Compression test produced an uneven break with moderate taps. No avalanche activity to report. In general, Avalanche Canada's forecast was bang-on for this area.
