Weather

Weather was below freezing, roughly 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Skies were thin clouds and no noticeable wind or wind transporting snow. Iron Mountain, North Routt County Northeast Aspect Elevation 9,400 Feet --- Below Tree Line

Snowpack

60cm slab broke from crust on faceted bed surface. Slab was comprised of snow from earlier this week, the heavier, wet snow from last weekend, and a crust sandwiched by facets. Iron Mountain, North Routt County Northeast Aspect Elevation 9,400 Feet --- Below Tree Line

Avalanche

Whumphing and cracking was noticeable on 3rd lap up skin track. Large avalanche occurred on a steeper slope adjacent to area of previous ski laps that was separated by a ridge of trees. Avalanche slid and collapsed entire slope that was open with no large trees present. Iron Mountain, North Routt County Northeast Aspect Elevation 9,400 Feet --- Below Tree Line
