Weather
Warm temperatures today with Brumley recording a high of 55 degrees at 2 PM. Winds were breezy from the southwest just at ridgetop. Sky cover increased from clear in the morning to overcast by 4 PM.
Snowpack
The upper snowpack became much wetter in the afternoon today than previous days. I traveled on east to south-facing slopes below and near treeline in the afternoon and got numerous collapses. I also remotely triggered a Wet Slab avalanche. The collapsing layer and the avalanche was only about 6 inches deep. This about the height of the last storm snow in non-wind-drifted areas.---I dug on a near-treeline easterly slope at 3 PM and found wet snow to about 12 inches deep. Foot penetration was 40 cm. In this same spot foot penetration was closer to 10 cm the day prior (also earlier in the day though).
