Cold, crisp day with intermittent flurries and no accumulation. Winds increased while I was in the field, and by the time I was driving back over Berthoud there was intense wind transport above treeline.
Snowpack
On a north aspect below treeline the snowpack conisited of recent storm snow over a faceting slab over depth hoar. Mixed ECT results at the slab/depth hoar interface 40cm above the ground, with one propagating result and one non-propagating result. See snowpit profile for more detail. Travelling up the Current Creek drainage, the snowpack on more southerly aspects conisted of a couple of inches of new snow over a supportable (on skis) melt-freeze crust.
