12,400’ lower east ridge of Trico Peak - Sunny, 30° and warming at 11:30am, sustained wind from the west with strong gusts along the ridge.
Avalanche
Northeast 35-40° slope off lower east ridge of Trico peak. 150’ crown 12” at max height, ran maybe 1000’ . Skier 1 preformed a ski cut across the intended descent with no results, he proceeded to ski the line to the planned safe point. Skier 2 descended and after 4-5 turns a wind slab broke 40’ above him, he was unaware of the slide and was able to ski to the the safe point. The slab was slow moving at first, then picked up speed as it rolled over a steeper aspect to the left and travelled far on firm snow. Skiers above descended original skin track and met with skier 1 and 2.
