Weather
Snow fluctuated between S-1 and S2 all afternoon. Winds were light below treeline but moderate ridgetop and snow transport was noticeable. Cloud cover was mostly overcast with a few periods of sun poking through.
Snowpack
On east and southeast aspects below treeline the snowpack had about an inch of soft snow on top of denser, sun affected snow from the day before. Only an inch new overnight here whereas 3.5" HN at the study plot up the road. Below the inch of fluff was 2 inches of moist snow that was starting to form a crust on ESE aspects. This was absent on northeast. The snow below this was dry. I did not not notice any signs of snowpack instability while touring but a CT failed on the basal facets (CT14 @ 13cm) in the pit.
