Weather
Light wind, warming temperatures, and high thin clouds. Not bad for the shortest day of the year.
Snowpack
Pretty simple in the Red Mountain Pass area at the moment. The alpine has been torched by winds earlier in the week and firm drumby wind-slabs persist on most aspects near and above treeline. Though it would be hard to affect any buried weak-layers below the surface. I am still choosing to avoided these features, particularly in start zones. Below-treeline shady sloped remain soft with nice ski conditions, while the sunny's are developing a crust. No cracking or collapsing observed.
Avalanche
No new avalanche activity.
