Weather

Heavy snow. Wind strong out of the SW. 10,700 feet in elevation. North Aspect.

Snowpack

There was about 50+ cm of fresh storm snow that fell over the last 48 hours. In the lower plunge this snow was mostly not wind effected but fairly wet and cohesive. Subtle cracking was observed in the upper 10 cm of storm snow that fell mostly overnight.

Avalanche

A skier in our party triggered this R1 D1 avalanche on a 35 degree slope lower in the plunge. The slab avalanche failed in storm snow at the old snow interface.
