Wind effect was the theme of the day. Recent NE winds have ravaged alpine, treeline and exposed below-treeline locations on most aspects. I suspect the best skiing would be found on W facing slopes at treeline and below. We encountered some whumpfing and cracking climbing up a steep slope around 1400m on a S aspect. We investigated and found a thin crust down 35cm, which was reactive in the hard range and sudden collapse (drop) in character. However, there is currently no real slab sitting overtop.
