The snow pack leaves a lot to be desired. We usually can start skinning from the highway, but today we had to drive all the way to falls like trail head to start. Low snowpack made the first 40% up thar a battle. Many alder and trees that should be buried this time of year were not. Likewise, goggle were necessary skiing down for possibility of being whipped in the face. The alpine-ish slopes near the top had a crust, and the snow was heavy and wet. The skiing was not terrible, nor was it great. The skiing further down on the other hand was terrible due to the low snow pack. Nothing was sliding today. We rode a few smaller slopes at 35-40 degree angle. There were however signs all around of the recent avalanche cycle.
