Only small soft slabs had been reported from ski cuts at the resort the day prior. Not sure about the activity from the bombs. See snowpack for more details.
Weather
Griz cam had 40+ cms by the end of today. Snow started at 9am.
Snowpack
Dug a pit at the top of Outer Siberia. On the slope facing the resort. (West?) Dug 160cms to the ground. We found the early December rain crust basically at the ground was starting to break down. I do not think this layer is going to be an issue. We did find a very thick layer (about 10cms thick) of rain crust 80cms down. Those layers went from 4 finger, to pencil through the crust, to fist below the crust. Our CT failed resistantly at 24 below this layer, not above. Our ECT did not prove any results on this layer or on any layer really. The skiing was incredible! But I just saw some photos from avalanche Canada about a similar layer being triggered by skiers so I thought I would do this MIN report. Skiing is good but this layer could be dangerous with extreme loads such as a sled or a step-down during an avalanche.
