Surveying Clague Mountain

Today we went sledding in Kitimat at Clague Mountain. We rode up to tree line to get a look around. We saw one new size 2 avalanche on a north east aspect that occurred in the last 24 hours. The debris from this avalanche overrode old sledding tracks and is a good example of a relatively small feature that presents a hazard given the current conditions. Widespread wind affect in most areas, but there was some sheltered snow to be found. This is an amazing area to explore and we look forward to our next trip. Thanks to the Kitimat Snowmobile Club.
