With a SPAW in effect, as well as avalanche activity and significant test results all week, we made the choice to ride simple terrain away from overhead hazard. At Mount West we found lots of powder in sheltered mellow terrain. In exposed terrain we found signs of wind effect and denser, stiffer snow. Today the winds were light. In snow profile tests we had significant results on a weak layer of surface hoar buried 68 centimeters. A 20 centimetre wind slab also showed up in our tests. In the Alpine, on lee slopes, we saw signs of recent avalanche activity to size 2. The temperature was still warm, -3 at Treeline and we got some sun in the afternoon.
