We did not experience the melt freeze crust that was forecasted on Zoa. We did a compression test on a 30x30x100 isolated block and there were no results. After the compression test I grasped the block and twisted. It broke free down 70cm on a clean plane. The surface on the plane was decomposing particles. Of note, the snow pack temperature down 20cm was -5 deg C. Down 30cm it was -7 deg C. We had no results on this steep temperature gradient but it might be worthwhile keeping an eye on it.
